About Venue

Dovecot is a world-renowned tapestry studio, housed in a grand Victorian Baths, in the heart of Edinburgh. It’s a landmark centre for contemporary art, craft and design, and available to hire for special events. Established in 1912, Dovecot continues a century-long heritage of collaboration with international artists to make exceptional handwoven tapestries and gun-tufted rugs.

Dovecot has five versatile event spaces, allowing for all types of events including elegant banquets for up to 180, stylish drinks receptions for up to 500, meetings, and events. The expert Events Team at Dovecot work in partnership with caterers and production companies (audio visual specialists) to make your bespoke event come to life in our cultural and historic surroundings.

Alongside the tapestry studio, Dovecot run an exciting programme of exhibitions and events to further explore contemporary art, craft and design.

When you hire a space at Dovecot, your fee contributes toward the charitable mission of the Dovecot Foundation; established to ensure the long term future of tapestry weaving in Scotland.

We have a projector for hire of £50 exc. VAT. Any other equipment can be hired in from our approved AV suppliers. Two Speaker PA System and two handheld mics at £145.00 + VAT per day

Cancellation policy

Date of Cancellation Cancellation charge payable to DSL More than 28 days before the event the deposit paid or due More than 14 days and up to 28 days before the Event 50% of total booking value 14 days or less 100% of total booking value 1. The cancellation charges detailed above are expressed exclusive of any applicable VAT. 2. In the event that the Hirer cancels a booking that DSL has made on its’ behalf, for entertainment, audio visual equipment, furniture or otherwise, all cancellation charges shall be met by the Hirer.

A very interesting place where you can watch weavers during their work. The studios organise exhibitions, e.g. stunning Biba Story. You can purchase quite original postcards ans books and finished the whole experience with a delicious cup of coffee. Worth visiting!

Such a great venue for our event. I loved that you could see the weavers weaving. Everyone seemed to enjoy the catering and upstairs on the balcony was great for photos and networking whereas downstairs was super for our pitching event

We had our wedding at Dovecot Studios and it was exceptional. I frequently visit the gallery for exhibitions and events, and felt very lucky to be able to get married in such a beautiful space. The weaving floor and the viewing balcony is an incredible space, from the lighting to the artwork, it's very special. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to help us with our day. They put us at ease and made the whole process so easy which helped us enjoy the day. Everything was executed excellently and we can't thank Hannah, Alex and the team enough. We would recommend this venue to anyone looking to get married in Edinburgh.

Great studio in central Edinburgh! Biba exhibition is informative, interesting and a wonderful review of fashion and more. The short video complements the display. Cute cafe and shop! Definitely recommend and will return-

Came here for the Biba exhibition, well set out with good displays & information as well as accompanying shop items. Also worth visiting the free balcony over the weaving are.
