We hired MKII as our wedding venue in 2025. In the lead up, Charlie, the old venue manager, was a dream to work with, so I was sad that he left just before our wedding took place in September, as I knew he'd be a great help when we were setting up the day before. During set up, the new venue manager wasn't really around so we had to find things on our own, such as additional chairs and tables that were kept in a cupboard, not where the rest of the furniture was stored. We also had to call him on the phone for his help, so we could connect our own music during set up. The venue itself is big and spacious, and everything we wanted on the day. Guests did complain about being too hot, so we had to find a fan during the party, which was stored away. The day after the wedding, when we were clearing up - we noticed that all our remaining booze that we'd taken a mental note of was missing. These were mostly unopened bottles of champagne, spirits and wine. Over half a wheel of cheese and our evening food (Yardsale pizzas that were still in the box and untouched) were also gone. When we asked the venue manager about this, he simply said, "The cleaner must have thrown it away." We arrived for clean up at 8am before the cleaner got there, so we knew this wasn't the case. But we asked her in any case, and she said she hadn't seen the alcohol or food. Following an email to the owner, he mentioned that food isn't allowed to stay on site overnight due to rodents, which we weren't told about in advance, or even on the night when we were leaving. But this doesn't explain the missing alcohol. And a lot of the food could have been stored in the fridge, as there's a large one on site. With the venue closing soon after 10pm, we left our cards/gifts/money at the venue, not wanting to take these to the pub with us. We still don't know if some cards went missing as we found it too awkward to ask guests who seemingly hadn't given a present if their gift had been stolen. We look back fondly on the day, as we did enjoy celebrating with everyone, but sadly this put a dampener on our wedding day as we felt let down by this incident.
